We were supposed to be on the road by now, cruising down to the white sandy beaches of Destin, Florida. But, Isaac has really jammed that whole thing up. Tropical Storm Isaac is expected to make landfall as a category 1 or 2 hurricane. To give you some kind of a reference point, Katrina was a category 4. The models have been all over the place, once thought to make landfall in Destin… then Gulf Shores, now New Orleans. A state of emergency has been issued in Alabama, Florida, Mississippi and Louisiana. Everything could change with the passing hours.
All in all, hurricanes are nothing to mess with. When Bud asked me, “Did you know a tsunami was on the way?” I had no choice but to laugh, and agree to postpone our kidnapping to the beach.
We are going to try to go next week, if the rain cooperates. One thing I’ve learned, trips to the beach in the rain are no fun. Mine and Jeff’s first beach adventure was dampened by wet weather. We still had fun, but I was not a very happy camper… his words, not mine.
I went to the doctor last week for a checkup, and heard Bean’s heartbeat. Still very strong, and fast… I know the urban legend says a fast heartbeat indicates a girl, but I don’t buy it. Bean could have just been nervous.
Our big 20 week appointment is in two weeks. It will be Jeff’s first time to the doctor. My doctor has also agreed to let us bring a camera in for a Mommy-To-Be segment. So, that should be interesting.
Almost halfway there…. can’t wait for January!
