As you already know, we are homeschooling this year. It just felt like the best choice for our family as we try to navigate through the current, strange times we live in.
Our kids are active, sure. But there really can never be enough physical activity outside of the house. Luke has golf and Eden has ballet and jazz. All three kids absolutely LOVE their weekly swim lessons at Goldfish Swim School, which is proving to be more important now than ever!
We are so lucky to have this fabulous swim school in our own backyard. I have been so impressed with the extra steps and precautions GSS has implemented since their reopening.
All visitors are required masks when they walk in, instructors even have protective face shields in the water with the children. Swimmers are not allowed to enter the building until 5 minutes before their swim time and only one parent per child can accompany them.
Luckily, we have 3 swimmers and a baby… so Jeff has been able to come help me!
The 30 minutes in the water is such a great way for our kids to burn energy and socialize with their friends.
Here are some longterm benefits of swimming for kids:
- Swimming may improve cognitive functioning.
- Swim time may reduce the risk of drowning.
- Swimming may improve confidence.
- Increases quality time between caregivers and babies.
- Builds muscle.
- Improves coordination and balance.
- Improves sleeping patterns.
Most importantly, it’s proving to be a great extracurricular for our kids who are now home with mom for the majority of their time.
