I absolutely love organizations, particularly businesses that give back! Goldfish Swim School doesn’t just give back during the holiday season. By providing the community with invaluable swim lessons, I truly believe this is a business that is passionate about giving back.

Oh, but wait… it gets better!

This holiday season Goldfish Swim School is encouraging you to help provide Sweet Dreams & Stories for children throughout Columbus. This month Goldfish Swim School Dublin, Westerville and Lewis Center are partnering together to help provide pajamas and hard cover books to children who may not have access to a literacy rich environment at home.

From December 1 to 21 Goldfish Swim School is accepting donations for two deserving local organizations: Brightside Academy and Run The Race/Brian Muha Memorial Foundation serving at risk children on the near west side and inner-city Columbus.

If you are interested in donating, please bring one or both of the following items to Goldfish Swim School in Dublin, Westerville or Lewis Center.

  • A new pair of pajamas for children ages three months to 12 years
  • A hard cover or chapter book for children ages three months to 10 years

Goldfish Swim School’s goal is to provide pajamas and books for each of the children at Brightside Academy and have many more to donate to the Muha Foundation.

We have been soaking up every ounce of summer this season. Our afternoons have been spent at the swimming pool, and watching the kids gain more and more confidence in the water with each passing week has been exciting and entertaining all at the same time.

All the credit goes back to Goldfish Swim School. You all, I can’t rave enough about the swim instructors there. On any given afternoon, the pool is littered with orange shirted swim instructors. There are always several life guard swim instructors walking around the pool monitoring the lanes, as well. Many times, if Luke or Eden has a large class — they will move to another lane and have a private lesson, which is AWESOME! We recently rain into one of Eden’s instructors at Target and she was so excited to see her! Eden isn’t the type to run up and hug someone, but she ran to her swim instructor with open arms…which is just a testament to the kind of people they employ.

Goldfish Swim School is opening a new Lewis Center location this fall. We will probably still go to Westerville, due to proximity…but I am super excited to see the newest facility. They are now enrolling students and now hiring.

Is there anything better than summer? I’ll wait……

…….

That’s what I thought! We are full-blown invested into summer this year as we make our way to the pool on a regular basis. The cool thing is, Luke and Eden can SWIM! I’m not even talking about doggie paddling, or floating, they are actually taking windmill strokes in the big pool.

Luke can swim the entire width of the pool without assistance. Yes, I still keep a very close eye on them…but I am truly amazed at their development. I credit 100% of it to Goldfish Swim School.

I had a meeting last Wednesday, so my husband took the kids to swim lessons. It was the first time he had seen them swim in about 6 months and he was blown away. He texted me:

“Did you know they can actually swim!?!”

Eye roll.

But it’s true, until you see them in action it’s kind of hard to believe.

Goldfish Swim School has a lot of incredible things happening July. If you’re on the fence on signing your child up for swim lessons this summer, hear me out. I know we are halfway through the summer and some of you may be thinking…okay, next year we learn how to swim…but it’s not too late!

Goldfish Swim School’s unique Jump Start Clinics are specially designed for families looking to get their kids water-ready in a hurry! They’re a great way to introduce kids to the fundamentals of water safety, take full advantage of school vacations, get peace-of-mind before a water-centric vacation.

Jump Start Clinics include four or five consecutive days of 30-minute swim lessons that focus on everything from teaching the fundamentals of water safety to fine-tuning stroke technique. These clinics are so effective, we guarantee you’ll see significant improvement in your child’s swimming skills in just four or five short days!

Out of no where, we jumped right into summer! I know a lot of areas are in a premature summer heatwave, and Ohio is no exception. The kids have been living their best lives the last few days in the sprinkler and playing with water hoses…counting down the days until our pool opens.

I am so excited/anxious to see how they are at the swimming pool this summer. This is the first year, they know how to swim… it’s 100% thanks to Goldfish Swim School and their weekly lessons.

I think it’s going to be a FUN summer and I can’t wait for it to begin!

Meanwhile, May is water safety month, but really, I believe all spring and summer months should directly bring attention to water safety. According to the CDC, drowning is the leading cause of accidental-injury death among children ages 1 to 4.  Last May there were 7 drowning deaths in Ohio. 7!

Here are some important tips to keep in mind this summer:

  • Water toys including floaties, noodles and plastic inner tubes do NOT protect against drowning.
  • Most children who drown are not supervised.
  • Be aware that even the most seasoned swimmers can still encounter trouble. Make sure swimmers don’t overestimate their skills and that they understand the importance of never swimming alone!
Sunshine, sprinklers and swim safety.

Sunshine, sprinklers and swim safety.

Best life.

Best life still.
