Planning the Perfect Masters Par-Tee

Hosting a Masters watch party!

Our younger two boys are a little small to determine if the golf bug will bite them, but that doesn’t stop everyone from crowding around the TV to watch a few holes.

If you have a golf enthusiast in your life or if you want an excuse to host a party, this is the perfect weekend to take advantage. But first, a little backstory on the tournament.

The Masters was established in 1934 and is held annually at the Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia. Augusta National is known for its meticulously manicured fairways, azalea-lined paths, and challenging layout.

The Masters is steeped in tradition, including the Green Jacket ceremony, egg salad sandwiches and Azelea themed cocktails.

Winning the Masters is a career-defining achievement for any professional golfer, and your party can be too!

  1. Decorations: I purchased most of these from Amazon. The nice thing about the Masters falling right after Easter this year is the faux grass was on sale. I use this for a table scape and pepper it with golf balls and tees. The official colors are yellow and green so you can find many options on Amazon.
  2. Food and Drinks: Plan a menu that includes classic golf tournament fare such as sandwiches, sliders, chips, and dip. You can also serve finger foods and snacks that are easy to munch on while watching the tournament. Here is my copy-cat Egg Salad Sandwich recipe from last year.
  3. Signature Cocktail: Create a signature cocktail for your party, inspired by the Masters theme. You could even name it something related to golf or the tournament. Consider serving traditional drinks like Arnold Palmers (iced tea and lemonade) Mint Juleps or the Azalea (lemon juice, pineapple juice, grenadine and vodka).
  4. Outdoor Viewing Area: If weather permits, set up an outdoor viewing area where guests can watch the tournament on a big screen or TV. Arrange comfortable seating and provide blankets or heaters if it’s chilly outside.
  5. Indoor Viewing Area: Make sure you have a designated indoor viewing area as well, especially if the weather isn’t ideal. Set up a TV or projector screen where guests can watch the tournament comfortably.
  6. Prizes and Favors: Consider giving out prizes or party favors to your guests to add an extra element of fun to the event. You could award prizes for winners of golf-themed games or raffles throughout the day.
  7. Tournament Pool: Set up a friendly tournament pool where guests can predict the winners of each round or other outcomes of the tournament. Offer a prize to the guest with the most accurate predictions at the end of the event.
